This japanese towel is dyed using traditional hand dyeing techniques unique to Japan called \"Chusen\".The back side is the same design. The back side is not white. You can use it without worrying about the front and back.»About \"Chusen\"
≪ Design ≫\"KANNO Textiles\" (\"Kanno Orimono\")This is a hand towel from the Kanno Fabric company. The inlaid logo references the fact that, in 1899 AD, our founder, Shinpei Kanno, teamed up with two brothers to establish the Kanno company: the logo is made up of three threads entwined with each other. This is the badge of our company. The overall design is called \"Tachiwakugara,\" a traditional pattern which has existed in Japan since long ago. This is a pattern which is meant to invoke the impression of what one might see at a hot spring, with steam steadily billowing into the sky and spreading out... Using designs of such a fine origin is associated with many good things, so we used it in our Kanno Fabrics hand towels.
≪ Color ≫Rouge (Enji-iro) Our name\'s origins are associated with Enshizan, a large safflower-producing region in China; with this name we have essentially invoked safflower dyeing. At present, we dye our items with cochineal dye, extracted from the internal pigments of insects from one part of the biological superfamily comprising shield bugs and scale insects, particularly the Asian lac insect、southern European kermes, Mexican cochineal insects, and so on. Lac insect secretions were introduced to 8th-century Japan under the name of \"Murasakiko;\" it was gathered for medical use and is preserved at the national treasure house, the Shosoin. Pigment collected from these scale insects, also known as cochineal insects, is currently used in Yuzen and Bingata dyeing. \"Rouge\" January 19, 2016 05:10 (UTC) Wikipedia Japanese Edition https://ja.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=%E3%81%88%E3%82%93%E3%81%98%E8%89%B2&oldid=56422246
